I was so excited to do this surprise makeover for one of my favorite students at RV. Nicole is a senior at the school I teach at and I have been so blessed to become really close friends with her and her parents. Nicole's mom, Michele, wanted me to bring a little life to her freshly painted teal bedroom. So while Nicole was in OCNJ for the day, for a lacrosse game, I crept into her room and did some major rearranging and redecorating. Yes, I did all this in one day...CRAZY! I'm not gonna go through every single detail because the pics say it all but I will share where I found a couple pieces. Here we go! I took inspiration from Nicole's prom dress. It was so pretty and VIBRANT. I knew I wanted to use that orange as an accent with her teal walls. Check it out...

This lamp was an awesome find at Homegoods. I love the base and the teal stripe adds a little bit of interest to the already teal walls! {Perfect match}
I decided to buy some Ikea side chairs for Nicole and her friends to hangout in.
I also thought this would be a great spot for Nicole to sit down to do some work on her laptop. She could swing the other chair around to make it a foot rest or even
snag her vanity bench to prop her feet up on.
Instant. Cozy. Workspace.
{Yes, you see a price tag on some things, I wanted to be sure she loved it before I removed the tags}
I love me some homemade artwork. I framed some wrapping paper that I had so neatly stashed away in my gift wrap station. It adds just the right amount of color and who doesn't love chevrons!?!?!
Loving this gorgeous headboard that Nicole's mom had purchased with the redesign in mind.
The chocolate really grounds all of the vibrant colors in the space.
The duvet and shams were also found at Ikea. Accent pillows on the bed were from TJMaxx.
I fell in love with this "oh so girly" mirror I found at Homegoods. It really pops off the teal walls.
Cute pillow from Target.
As I am finishing up this post, Nicole is texting me and telling me how much she LOVES it. She just got home after her game and she HAD NO IDEA that her mom was so sweet to do this for her. Surprise = TOTAL SUCCESS!
Great job keeping it top secret Michele aka MOM!
That's a GREAT DAY in my world =) I love what I do!
Tell me what ya think.....
What a great example of how much impact you can make in just ONE day with the right pieces. What an awesome "ambush redesign"....Nicole is a lucky girl:)
